Palouse region / 10 miles / 751 ft total climb
This is a short and quick loop made a little slower by a decent amount of climbing. For this ride you can park in Colton or Uniontown. You can ride it back to front or inside out. Don’t matter. If you start in Uniontown and ride out Schlee Rd to start, there’s a little less total climbing but it feels a little more steep. In Uniontown you can park along South Montgomery St in front of Holzer Park right downtown.
From Holzer Park ride south down Montgomery for about half an mile, then take a right on Schlee Rd. Schlee is pretty level for about the first 3 miles. At about 3.5 mile mark you start an s-curve descent down into Steptoe Canyon.
Schlee terminates at Steptoe Canyon Rd where you’ll take a right and begin a fairly steep climb along Steptoe Creek and up the canyon. After about 2 miles you’ll come to the end of Steptoe Canyon Rd and hang a right on Rim Rd. Rim Rd takes you about another 2 miles into Colton. Make your way to Broadway St/Highway 195. From Colton, follow 195 south back to Uniontown.
