Little Leon Loop

Route Details:

Palouse region / 8 mi / 456 ft total climb

This loop is great if you’re strapped for time. We’d planned a longer ride, but underestimated our obligations for the day, and were forced to keep it short. Or if you’re already in Uniontown for the wine and want to burn off a few extra liquid calories, then this loop is a good addition to the Wine Ride: Uniontown route. It’s quick, but there’s a decent hill or two.

You can leave the car in Uniontown at Holzer Park right on Montgomery St/Hwy 195. From there ride north on 195 to E Blair St and hang a right. Take Blair out of town. It becomes Uniontown East Rd as you round the first bend. Look for Esser Rd on your right. Esser turns to gravel and you stay left at the T in the road.

About a mile and a half on Esser you find Leon Rd and hang a right. Leon offers your biggest climb. It’s short but steep, you get to about 10 or 11% grade. You roll fast down Leon to a crossroads. Hang a right on Cowcreek Rd which is also Leon Rd, and head back to Esser. Left on Esser and left again on Uniontown East Rd and back the way you came in to Uniontown.
